Mike Collins: Santa Fe, New Mexico

At age sixteen, Mike began working for Woolworth's as a stock boy in his hometown, San Francisco. He grew to become the District Manager for twenty-one of their stores in Idaho, California and in Nevada. Woolworth's downsized in 1992, and Mike then became the manager of their successful Santa Fe store. When they closed all their stores in 1997, he turned the former Santa Fe store into the first Five & Dime General Store. He is also CEO and Co-Manager of UTBW, LLC.

Bob Collins: San Antonio, Texas

At age seventeen, Bob had his first job with Woolworth’s in San Francisco. Beginning in 1984, he managed their California stores in Echo Park, Pasadena, El Cajon, San Jose, Mountain View, and on Los Angeles’s La Cienega Blvd. When Woolworth’s closed its stores in 1997, Bob managed Office Max and Michael’s stores in San Jose, Bakersfield, and Nipomo (near San Luis Obispo). He moved to San Antonio in 2003, to open our second store (on the Riverwalk), then opened our fourth store (on Alamo Plaza) 2007.

Terry Feimster: Charleston, South Carolina

Terry has lived in Charleston for 32 years. He has two children who also live in Charleston. He began his career with FW Woolworth while earning a bachelor's degree in Education. He went on to have an impressive career in retail and hospitality management. "This is most enjoyable job I've had," says Terry. "I'm very appreciative of the opportunity Five and Dime has given me. I wish I had begun working here much earlier in my career."

Christian Garbutt: St. Augustine, Florida

Christian grew up on Coronado Island in San Diego. He started working for Five & Dime in 2010, at our San Diego location. He soon became assistant manager to his mentor, Brian Kanbara. He showed such promise there, that he was offered the Store Manager position at our Charleston Store. So, in 2015, he moved his family to Charleston. In 2016, he was asked to move his family again, to St. Augustine. There, he oversaw the development of the store and has been its manager since it opened.

Brian Kanbara: San Diego, California

Brian is a Woolworth's veteran and an expert manager. He managed stores for Woolwoth's for over twenty-five years. He ran their stores in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in California's Fountain Valley, Riverside, Orange, Torrance, Santa Monica, plus three stores in San Francisco. After Woolworth's closed in 1997, he managed stores for Michael's Arts and Crafts for approximately eleven years, in Santa Monica and Torrance, California.

Josh McCollum: Branson, Missouri

A native Coloradan with two sets of twins, Josh spent 9 years at Sports Authority in Denver, then managed their store in Montrose, CO. After Sports Authority closed its doors, he moved his growing family to Durango, CO to manage that city's Rite Aid. After two years at Rite Aid, he became a multi-store manager. Josh could not pass up the opportunity to work with our Five & Dime family, so he moved his family once again, to manage our Branson store.

Denise Nielsen: Monterey, California

Denise joined the Five & Dime, San Diego, store as an Assistant Manager in 2009. When we opened the Monterey store, she moved there and was promoted to the position of store manager. She has 25 years of retail experience as a buyer/manager for Nordstrom San Diego, Loews Coronado Bay Resort's gift shop, Point Loma Nazarene University's book store and her own Coastal Cottage gift boutique. She also has a masters degree in business administration.

Joe Pham: Savannah, Georgia

After successfully opening our Charleston store, Joe and his family have moved to Savannah so he can oversee our east coast growth. Arriving in the US at age 13, he earned a BS in Business from the Univ. of Nebraska. Then he joined Woolworth's and soon became manager of their Hollywood, California store. He managed their California stores in Glendale and Downey then was sent to Hawaii to run their Waikiki store, open more stores, and manage several others. When Woolworth's closed its US stores, he became a manager for Wal-Mart, then CVS, in Las Vegas.

Steve Sykes: Jackson, Wyoming

Steve has have lived in southeast Idaho his entire life. He commutes to Jackson, daily. He has been in the retail business for 30 years, 20 with Albertson's grocery store. He has been married for at least two decades. He has an adult son and a daughter. He loves hunting, fishing and camping. He teases his wife that he works to pay the food bill for 8 dogs. "Which are all as much part of the family as anyone," he declares. He is very thankful for the opportunity to be part of our growing company.

Cody Potter: Upper Management, Director of Store Development

Cody was a history major in college, then spent time travelling throughout South America. His fluency in Spanish and in Latin American cultures helped him start a Mexican decorative arts importing and sales business in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Because the store was next to the Five & Dime, he became close friends with Mike Collins and was able to help him communicate with several employees. After a few years, Mike recruited him to be part of the company's leadership. His people skills, management skills, observation skills and math skills have been put to use by every store and deportment. Cody is our lead investigator when it comes to analyzing the feasibility of starting a store in a new location.

Kristen Lynch: Accounting Manager

A treasured and essential member of our team since 2012, Kristen is located in our Santa Fe office, overseeing our accounting and business details. She had been our "go to" person at a large accounting firm until we needed her all to ourselves. She once worked in retail management, but her dream was to devote her talents to accounting, which she has been able to do since 2006. She holds an associate's degree in accounting from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Inst. and an associate's degree in business from Central New Mexico Community College. She also holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from N.M. Highlands University.
