At age sixteen, Mike began working for Woolworth's as a stock boy in his hometown, San Francisco. He grew to become the District Manager for twenty-one of their stores in Idaho, California and in Nevada. Woolworth's downsized in 1992, and Mike then became the manager of their successful Santa Fe store. When they closed all their stores in 1997, he turned the former Santa Fe store into the first Five & Dime General Store. He is also CEO and Co-Manager of UTBW, LLC.

Kevin Casey: Branson, Missouri

Kevin lived in Phoenix for forty years before moving to Branson to manage our store there. He spent thirty-eight years as a sales rep and sales manager at Smith-Southwestern, a souvenir and gift company that has been a Five and Dime vendor for several years. He has two daughters and three grandchildren. He enjoys playing basketball and pickleball whenever he has some spare time.

Bob Collins: San Antonio, Texas

At age seventeen, Bob had his first job with Woolworth’s in San Francisco. Beginning in 1984, he managed their California stores in Echo Park, Pasadena, El Cajon, San Jose, Mountain View, and on Los Angeles’s La Cienega Blvd. When Woolworth’s closed its stores in 1997, Bob managed Office Max and Michael’s stores in San Jose, Bakersfield, and Nipomo (near San Luis Obispo). He moved to San Antonio in 2003, to open our second store (on the Riverwalk), then opened our fourth store (on Alamo Plaza) 2007.

Terry Feimster: Charleston, South Carolina

Terry has lived in Charleston for 32 years. He has two children who also live in Charleston. He began his career with FW Woolworth while earning a bachelor's degree in Education. He went on to have an impressive career in retail and hospitality management. "This is most enjoyable job I've had," says Terry. "I'm very appreciative of the opportunity Five and Dime has given me. I wish I had begun working here much earlier in my career."

Christian Garbutt: St. Augustine, Florida

Christian grew up on Coronado Island in San Diego. He started working for Five & Dime in 2010, at our San Diego location. He soon became assistant manager to his mentor, Brian Kanbara. He showed such promise there, that he was offered the Store Manager position at our Charleston Store. So, in 2015, he moved his family to Charleston. In 2016, he was asked to move his family again, to St. Augustine. There, he oversaw the development of the store and has been its manager since it opened.

Liz Hernandez: Monterey, California

Lizbeth grew up in beautiful Monterey, California and is lucky enough to call it home. In the early 2000's she stared working in the retail business as a sales associate, then later became a store manager and buyer for a nearby tourist-oriented retail store. "I love to work in Historic Cannery Row, where I get to meet and work with a diverse group of people," she says. In her spare time, one of her favorite hobbies is hiking while enjoying nature with her family.

Joe Pham: San Diego, California

After opening our Charleston store, Joe and his family moved to Savannah to manage that store and oversee our east coast growth. Arriving in the US at age 13, he earned a BS in Business from the Univ. of Nebraska. Then he joined Woolworths and soon became manager of their Hollywood, California store, then Glendale and Downey. He was then sent to Hawaii to run their Waikiki store, open more stores, and manage several others. When Woolworths closed its US stores, he became a manager for Wal-Mart, then CVS, in Las Vegas. He is delighted to be back in California as manager of our San Diego store.

Josie Guerra: Savannah, Georgia

Josie was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and was the assistant manager for nine months in our San Antonio store. Prior to that, she had over 19 years of experience in retail. She began her career as a sales associate in 2003, then worked up to store manager for Marshalls, and Ross Dress for Less. She has a passion for meeting people and loves working in diverse environments. She was delighted to make the move to Savannah. When not at work she keeps busy at home with her adorable little girl.

Chris Scardasis: Jackson, Wyoming

Chris grew up in the Jacksonville, Florida, area. At the age of 20, he joined the US Air Force. After serving for 9 years, he worked at our St. Augustine store while also going to college. In 2023, he went to fill in at our Jackson Hole store. He loves Wyoming, and soon became assistant manager. After a few months, the manager needed to move away, and our company offered him the position of General Manager. "I am very excited to start this new chapter of my life, and am very thankful for what you all have done for me. I plan on staying with this company for a long time."

Cody Potter: Upper Management, Director of Store Development

Cody was a history major in college, then spent time travelling throughout South America. His fluency in Spanish and in Latin American cultures helped him start a Mexican decorative arts importing and sales business in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Because the store was next to the Five & Dime, he became close friends with Mike Collins and was able to help him communicate with several employees. After a few years, Mike recruited him to be part of the company's leadership. His people skills, management skills, observation skills and math skills have been put to use by every store and deportment. Cody is our lead investigator when it comes to analyzing the feasibility of starting a store in a new location.

Kristen Lynch: Chief Finance and Personnel Officer

We were very happy to add Kristen to our team in 2012. She is located in our Santa Fe office, and oversees our accounting and business details. She had been our "go to" person at a large accounting firm until we became so large we needed to keep her all to ourselves. Originally from Boca Raton, Florida, she moved to Santa Fe in 1996. She had eight years of experience in retail while managing and doing the accounting for a supermarket. However, her dream was to devote her talents to accounting, which she has been able to do since 2006. She holds an associate's degree in accounting from Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute and an associate's degree in business from Central New Mexico Community College. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from New Mexico Highlands University. She is a treasured and essential member of our growing team.
